Peanut Butter Bars with a Gift Basket

The holidays play such a big part in our family. It seems that once fall arrives, the holidays get closer and closer each year. It’s an exciting time of year and food plays an important part. I spend countless hours preparing holiday menus and even more time on my feet cooking in the kitchen. Once fall hits, I’m busy until January andnotuntil then does everything settle down. It’s one thing to celebrate with family but we also celebrate with friends since most of them are away from family.

Being a blogger, I also have to keep up with food for the blog. All this time on my feet in the kitchen making food means I do a lot of standing and running around. There are days I cook and photograph two recipes at a time then head back to the kitchen to cook dinner for a birthday or weekend get together among friends. At the end of the day, my feet are killing me and all I want to do is sit down and prop my feet up on a pillow.

Baking Christmas cookies is a family tradition that starts the day after Thanksgiving. Instead of going out shopping, we’re setting up Christmas decorations and we’re in the kitchen baking dozens of cookies. It’s something we love to do; heat up some hot chocolate or mulled wine, put on comfortable Pajamas and bake the day away all while hanging ornaments on the tree. At the end of the day the cookies get frosted and put into the freezer as either done or as logs of cookie dough.

Only after our black Friday tradition do we finish up our Christmas shopping. It can be tough shopping for dozens of people and not knowing what to get them. It can get overwhelming but for the past few years, I’ve been doing custom gift baskets stuffed with individual gifts that I know that person will love. Whether it’s beauty products, entertainment, clothes or gift cards, I know each basket has a lot of gifts that are useful to that special someone.

I’ve fallen in love withAmopé Pedi Perfect™ Electronic Foot File from Walmart®. Let me explain. Since I’m always on my feet cooking or running around, sometimes they need some TLC after so much neglect.Every year, us kids get fuzzy socks in our gift baskets from mom. We love them because they feel amazing and it’s something rewarding to rewarding to look forward to wearing at the end of each day. Because these fuzzy socks are like microfiber, they tend to stick onto dry and ridged skin, which is like nails on a chalkboard!

I’ve been searching for a solution to this problem and have tried everything to solve the problem, including smothering my feet in lotion and wrapping them in saran wrap to lock moisture in. It’s crazy, I know. When you have feet that are aching and that need care, those ridged spots on the feet really start to hurt. Amopé Pedi Perfect™ Electronic Foot File helps to remove rough hard skin revealing smooth results after just one use by exfoliating the foot through a gentle and safe rotation action. It’s shaped head is easy to handle and works to remove dead skin all while applying medium presser on the skin for a few seconds at a time.

I’ve heard wonderful things about the foot fileand wanted to try it for myself and I’m glad I did because my feet are as soft as a babies bottom, no joke! Once I got the package home, I was ready to try it and set up shop over the bathtub. Just untwist the cap, remove the orange tap inside and turn it on. Curve it around the soles of clean feet and allow it to buff them. Once done, wash them off and walk around feeling like a million bucks because you deserve it!

At the end of the day, baking and cooking for family or friends isn’t a deal breaker. Even if it’s a lot of stress, the reward of being around those we love is worth it all! It’s important to take time to celebrate those moments in life. Learning to take care of ourselves is also important. If you’re feet are killing you, take some time to give them some TLC because without you, a lot of stuff around the house might go unfinished.

I’ve made the ultimate gift package this year that’s going out to all my girlfriends. The baskets are packed with Amopé Pedi Perfect™ Electronic Foot File (an exclusive gift package from Walmart®), my favorite seasonal scented candles, gourmet chocolate, red wine in a burlap bag, homemade dessert bars, cinnamon scented pine cones, artisan handmade soap, fuzzy socks and a gift card.

Giving homemade gift baskets full of goodies is my favorite way to celebrate my friends. It’s such a simple and loving gift to give this time of year and it really deserves to be given more often.

  4. This recipe is easy to make. Can I subtitute corn syrup with honey? Thanks

    1. Hi Rose, you can probably replace some of the corn syrup with honey however it will have a strong honey taste. If that is what you want, I’m sure it will fine.

  7. Peanut butter in bars like that sounds like a great idea! I already use it as a binder (and for flavor) in granola, I bet it’s good here!
